REST em projeto Java Spring não funciona

Question

criei um projeto no Spring Tool Suite para testar um sistema web e REST, no mesmo projeto, deu certo para criar uma pagina html estática e carregar no navegador, mas criei uma classe java para requisição GET, mas sempre que chamo da erro código 404 e não encontrei o que esta causando o erro.

A classe Java esta assim:

@RestController
@RequestMapping("/carros")
public class CarroController {

@RequestMapping(value = {"/run"}, method = RequestMethod.GET) 
public @ResponseBody String runCarros() {

    return "Retorno!!!!";
}

}

É bem simples, mais para teste mesmo, mas não esta funcionando.

Depois de muitas tentativas e erros, descobri que o problema era algo bem simples! O problema era onde eu estava colocando a classe java que possui o método para as requisições ajax, por exemplo, o Application do meu projeto fica em com.teste.sistema dai eu colocava a classe CarroController em controller e por causa disso o sistema não 'reconhecia' a classe, agora coloquei a classe em com.teste.sistema.controller e ele esta funcionando!

Control+C e Control+V no seu pom.xml e seu controller.

Susteito que esteja chamando url errada.

Bom... então estou fazendo algo de errado. No console, no diretório do projeto, rodo o comando 'mvn clean install' e em seguida o comando 'java -jar target/new_demo_rest_html-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar', para ver se esta rodando acesso o endereço de um html estático: 'localhost:8080/rodando.html'; que retorna uma string, dai acesso o endereço 'localhost:8080/carros/run' que retorna erro 404... não sei o que ta rolando :(

Então você realmente precisa acompanhar com cuidado o log de inicialização, ele tem que ter alguma informação pq a parte do log que vc postou indica sucesso e o que fiz foi, literalmente, copiar e colar seu código. Funcionou de primeira. Uma sugestão (especialmente se estiver usando windows) é apagar sua pasta repository e deixar o maven baixar novamente as dependencias.
